PRODUCT CUSTOMISATION

Zappak UK is a screenprinter and embroiderer as well as a supplier of clothing, bags and the like. We design and print/embroidery all items in-house. We do not outsource to third parties.

We can " customise" most products, whether these are the customer's own products or ones that Zappak provide. We will either screenprint, embroider or heatpress the item, depending on the effect required, the complexity of the design and the number of products. Learn more... read on

Printing, Embroidery or Heat Pressing... which one ?

Some of the factors to consider are :

  • the complexity of the design
  • the size of the design (i.e. left breast as opposed to a full A4 image)
  • the number of colours in the design
  • whether it is a photograph image that needs to be replicated
  • the surface it will go on (garment, bag, canvas etc)

In broad terms, we would select printing for one or two colours for large print quantities, embroidery for higher quality images of left breast size or below and heat pressing for a multi-coloured, high quality finishes. But these are only a guide, our staff can talk you through all the options, give you detailed costs,  work with you on the design and deliver the final product.

Don’t forget you can have more than one image on your product e.g. a left breast image, an image down the sleeve and a larger full size image on the back of a garment. There are no restrictions to what you can have, just our collective creativity !

So what the process and what's the difference ?

The 3 step process we follow

Step 1 : Determine the type of design
Based upon your requirements we will recommend whether the products should be screenprinted, embroidered or heat pressed, or of course, a combination of all three.

Step 2 : Creating the Design
You may have a design idea, an existing design to be copied exactly, or nothing at all. Either way, we will mock up a computer design for your approval and when, and only when, you happy with this, we will then undertake the production run.

Step 3 : The Production Run
The easy bit, we apply the agreed design or designs to the product.

Screenprinting

Screenprinting (printing) is the process of applying inks to the garment by a manual processing and then drying the ink, either air drying or heater drying, depending on the ink type and items to be printed.

Each separate colour in the design is lined up with the previous and applied separately.

The picture shows our carousel, used to apply the inks.

Embroidery

Exactly like your home sewing machine, but ours is bigger and computer controlled and embroiders six items at a time !.

Heat Pressing

Here the image is printed to different paper types (fro different effects), cut out and pressed on the garment under heat pressure.

The technique is often used for placing names and numbers on the back of shirts and sports tops.
